Drake Software Launches Web-based Tax Prep Application after Using Neotys' NeoLoad for Load Testing

NeoLoad Identified Serious Bottleneck; Paid for Itself the First Day

Neotys, a leader in easy-to-use, cost effective stress and load testing tools for web applications, today announced that Drake Software successfully used its NeoLoad to stress and load test its recently launched web-based tax preparation software, Web 1040.

For 32 years, Drake Software has provided tax professionals the tools they need to build their businesses and attract new clients. Drake is a pioneer in e-filing and has e-filed over 7 million income tax returns in 2008. In preparation for the 2009 filing season, Drake launched a new simplified web based system to help customers that have up to 100 plus offices throughout the U.S. Web 1040 provides an entirely web based solution which allows users to file tax returns and print bank product checks in remote offices without the hassle of installing and managing desktop software.

Before launching its new solution, Drake needed to be positive that Web 1040 could handle an extremely heavy user volume with no slow down. The tax industry has one common challenge: virtually all of the processing volume occurs over a relatively short period of time (about 6 weeks). If Drake were to have its application down or deliver a product that did not perform well under load, it would greatly damage its reputation with major repercussions. The company needed a tool that allowed it to quickly simulate a high load of realistic traffic and that would also provide meaningful data. Drake chose Neotys’ NeoLoad.

NeoLoad is a web stress testing software solution that runs high-load scenarios on web applications to measure performance and robustness prior to deployment.
