Bull uses NeoLoad, the load-testing solution from Neotys, to validate performances on its client projects.

The manufacturer and supplier of IT solutions and services uses NeoLoad to manage performance-testing campaigns carried out within the framework of its client projects. In the latest of these projects, Bull was a partner in the setting up of a contract and payment management solution for the Mutuelle Nationale des Hospitaliers et des Professionnels de la Santé et du Social (MNH), the leading mutual insurance company for hospital and health services staff in France.

Neotys, the company specializing in web application load testing software, announced today that Bull, the manufacturer and supplier of IT solutions and services, and specialist in the field of open information systems, has adopted the NeoLoad solution from Neotys to design and manage its performance testing campaigns carried out on the web applications being deployed at its clients' premises.

Bull accompanies its clients in the process of reshaping and modernizing their information systems. As part of this process, it regularly carries out performance testing campaigns on the clients' applications being deployed on its platforms. This performance testing allows Bull to fine-tune the applications, operating systems and hardware to achieve the required performance targets. For this to be successful, Bull needed a testing solution that would allow it to validate the systems' and infrastructures' performance under load before they were put into production at the client's site.

"We looked at the features offered by NeoLoad and compared them with those of competing software, including several open source products",comments Jean-Paul Dubourreau, consultant and Project Manager at Bull. "We were particularly impressed by the ease with which NeoLoad is deployed, enhancing our efficiency in test development, running simulations and scenarios, and in analyzing results".

NeoLoad's comprehensive functions means that Bull has access to a full history in the event any errors occur during development or test runs. Using this history and the tools available in NeoLoad to retrieve data, the cause of errors are easily identified. NeoLoad also contains advanced functions to make full use of a test's results, including, in particular, the ability to create custom graphs and integrate them into the automatically generated reports. Lastly, the metrics provided by NeoLoad can be used to make any necessary adjustments.

This efficiency and ease of use also translate into a significant gain in the cost involved in implementing a performance testing campaign. Moreover, Neotys' sales structure, based on a number of different license leasing options, allows service providers to undertake projects for end clients over a fixed period. Thus, Bull can use NeoLoad project by project, and enjoy total flexibility.

In its latest project Bull worked alongside the Mutuelle Nationale des Hospitaliers et des Professionnels de la Santé et du Social (MNH) in setting up the latter's new contract and payment management system. In particular, the NeoLoad solution from Neotys allowed Bull to validate the performance and behavior under load of the main business processes, and to carry out a final tweaking of the system.
